PNW Pitching Academy is the most comprehensive pitching training program in the Pacific Northwest
Many programs say they provide personalized training. We ACTUALLY do.
PNW Pitching Academy leverages a combination of state-of-the-art technology, individualized attention, industry leading training methods, and experienced, top-tier coaches to help you not only get better, but get better faster than your peers.
We take the guesswork out of getting better
As an athlete, your attention should be focused on your training – not searching for appropriate drills or workouts, and suffering through trial and error. With our unique combination of state-of-the-art technological tools, proven training methods, and proprietary resources, we remove all the guesswork, so you can focus your attention where it should be – on your training.
It all starts with the assessment
Every PNW Pitching Academy athlete begins their training with a rigorous and comprehensive assessment, where we assess your abilities in the following areas:
- Strength
- Mobility
- Biomechanics
- Pitching mechanics
- Pitch grips
- Velocity
- Movement
- Command
We identify, isolate, and attack the specific things that are holding you back
From the results of your assessment, we identify and isolate the areas where you need immediate improvement, and we attack those first.
Every athlete has something that is holding them back from being the best possible version of themselves, whether it be strength deficiencies, mechanical issues, mobility limitations, or otherwise. We begin by identifying and isolating the biggest things that are holding you back, and we attack those first.
Then, we reassess
After 6-8 weeks of relentlessly attacking the things that are most holding you back, we assess again. Based on the results of that re-assessment, we either continue attacking the same thing that is holding you back (for continued improvement), or we identify new areas for immediate improvement, and we vigorously attack those for another 6-8 weeks. Wash, rinse, repeat.
We leverage a combination of technology and resources you can’t find anywhere else
Some of the technology and resources we utilize in the PNW Pitching Academy:
Trackman
The technology used by MLB teams for tracking spin rate and movement on pitches
Markerless Biomechanics
Allows us to assess your movements on a biomechanical level, including things like head position/shift, shin flexion, elbow flexion, arm path, etc.
Driveline Pulse Throw Workload Monitors
Driveline Pulse Throw Workload Monitors track every throw you make, and give readings on the stress levels your elbow ligaments are undergoing with each throw
Driveline TRAQ with Edge tools
- Allows us to track an athlete’s progress across a range of data points
- Allows us to view trends in an athlete’s performance and run comparisons
- Allows an athlete and their trainer to communicate 24/7 via private messages
- Allows us to compare each athlete’s metrics against thousands of other athletes at a specific age/skill level
Athlete Experience
With enrollment in PNW Pitching Academy, you will get two 1-hour sessions per week with our Lead Pitching Trainer Jay-J Yarbrough-Jones in a 1:1 or 2:1 setting, ensuring that you get individualized attention and plenty of direct oversight from our training staff.
In addition to the work you do in-gym, your trainer will prescribe you drills and workouts to perform on your own, in-between in-person sessions. These drills and workouts will be delivered and logged through Driveline TRAQ – a platform that athletes can access at any time, from any device.
Showcase Prep
If you are a high school pitcher who wants to be recruited to play in college, the first time you see your key metrics SHOULD NOT be at the showcase you have spent hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars to attend.
We know the key pitching metrics that are tracked at showcases and valued by college coaches and pro scouts, and we track them using the same technology they use.
We optimize training for our high school aged athletes to ensure that we are improving on the metrics that are tracked at showcase events, so when our athletes do attend showcases, they are primed to put forward their best performance and receive the best results possible.
Gold standard recruiting assistance
College coaches and professional scouts will tell you, the highest resolution information they can receive from pitchers who want to be recruited is video through Trackman. They know and trust the technology and metrics.
Video clips through Trackman will be collected and curated for every athlete in the PNW Pitching Academy. Over time, athletes will have a complete portfolio of highlights they can forward to college coaches or pro scouts using the same technology they use.
Additionally, for PNW Pitching Academy athletes who are 14 years of age and older, we will help curate each athlete’s best video clips through Trackman and other metrics we have gathered, and help athletes package them up for delivery to coaches and scouts, including assistance with preparing cover emails to help athletes present themselves in their best light.
We also leverage our network of Division I, Division II, Division III, and junior college coaches and professional scouts to help high school athletes get placed at the next level.
This service is included in our pricing, and provided to athletes age 14 and over at no additional cost!
